Church restoration, Enfield, London

Example of church restoration

St Mary Magdalene is a Church designed by William Butterfield and is situated on The Ridgeway in Enfield. Butterfield was an illustrious architect and is credited with initiating the High Victorian Gothic Era.

At some point in the not too distant past many of the Bath stone elements of the Church had been repaired using a cementitious mortar, with many of the buttress stones and arches being rendered.

We were commissioned to remove and reinstate failing buttress stones and the arch on the main entrance way porch. We also replaced many Kentish Rag walling stones and repointed large areas of the Church in Hydraulic lime mortar.
